AGM and BREW HA HA update

Less than a week now until the Heroes AGM! (This coming Saturday - 16th. 5pm-7pm) If the prospect of sitting down with a group of interesting people in a (serious) meeting style format doesn't excite you than nothing will...

Updates for the BREW HA HA will follow the updates for the AGM so if drinking beer and telling jokes is more your thing skip to the end.

AGM
Laura Sonter has nominated to be the CHAIRPERSON (new position) of Heroes meetings effectively freeing up the President/Vice President to be active in the discussion of issues.

Gavin Croft and James Morrell have both nominated for the positions of PRESIDENT and VICE PRESIDENT. In addition a clearer definition of roles has been put forward for these two positions: The President remains the overseer of the club as a whole, especially in interacting with other clubs/teams, providing direction, vision, and ethusiasm to all its members. The Vice President's role is less stratigic but more operational overseeing the inner workings of the club providing support and accountability to the other position holders.

Meagan Bulley has nominated for SECRETARY. She has also apologised for not being able to make the meeting - and at this point we are chasing a volunteer to take minutes for the AGM.

Daniel Strelan has nominated for ELITE LEVEL OFFICER.

Sebastian Brown has nominated (with a slightly twisted arm) for TRAINING OFFICER.

Chris Brown has nominated for PARTY LIASON OFFICER.

Carl Behrendorff has nominated for TOURNAMENT LIASON OFFICER and HEROES TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR.

Nominations are still welcome for all positions, especially TREASURER, BUML LIASION OFFICER, TECHNICAL OFFICER, ORDERING OFFICER, and FUNDRAISING OFFICER.

BREW HA HA

HUC would like to invite every Ultimate player in Brisbane (and surrounds) to celebrate with Heroes members (past, present, and future) on this momentous occasion.

Time: 7pm-late (Saturday 16th)
Location: Brisbane Brewhouse 601 Stanley St, Woolloongabba.

Also be sure to bring along a disc related joke to share starting from 9.30pm. I will reward the best joke with a jug of beer! Here are some examples to get you thinking:

Q: Where's the Frisbee?
A: It's a-ROUND

WHEN A BALL DREAMS, IT DREAMS IT'S A FRISBEE
WHEN A FRISBEE DREAMS, IT DREAMS IT'S AN UNMANNED STEALTH RQ-3 DARKSTAR AIRCRAFT

Moses, Jesus and this other guy were playing disc golf. After 17 holes they were all tied and Moses had the box. As Moses throws the wind kicked up and turned over his disc right into the lake where it sunk. So he walked over parted the lake to get his disc, and tosses it under the basket. Jesus gets up to throw and does the same thing turning his disc and splash into the lake, but his disc floated. So Jesus walked on the water and tossed the disc under the basket. The other guy decides to try and keep it lower seeing how their discs flew into the lake. He releases the disc and *thwack* right into the first tree bouncing right back at him. Suddenly the wind gusted and the disc took off straight up into the air where it hit a bird. After hitting the bird the disc came slaming back down to earth hard and bounce into the basket ACE!!! Moses turns to Jesus and said, Man I hate playing with your dad.

So come have dinner ($10-$18), drink good beers, share a joke, have some laughs, win the free jug, and consequently drink more good beer.

5. Anything else

Take a short moment to read Huddy's vision and plan for WUCC 2014
. What do you think?

Have a go at writing a Mission Statement (perhaps based on the objectives below)
. Here are two that have been submitted already: 'To play, promote and develop fun, skilled, and spirited Ultimate' and 'Playing our hardest for the most enjoyable and spirited Ultimate.'

Also take a longer moment to read over the model rules of Incorporated Associations if you can be bothered. Added to that will be our objectives - so far looking like this:

To play enjoyable Ultimate Disc.

To set the standard of spirit on and off the field.

To encourage and foster new players to Ultimate.

To maintain socially playing members.

To develop elite level players.

To support our governing bodies (BUDA, QUDA, AFDA for example) where possible in their tasks of growing and strengthening the sport of Ultimate Disc.

Membership will also be discussed and voted on, so have a think about how much you would be happy to pay (if anything) to see this club reach its potential. Personally I would support a single level of membership with a $10 annual fee (a) because its affordable and (b) because it would be enough to get the ball rolling with orders for discs and uniforms as well as potential field hire/come and try days/parties/whatever!

The spirit contract would be a way of communicating the vision and spirit of the club to all players, as well as being a means of accountability for players who show patterns of bad spirit.

When you were looking through the positions did anything take your fancy? Is there something that you would like to do that isn't currently on the list? Nominations will of course still be welcome on the night but if you'd like to nominate yourself for a position now please email opshop_bum@hotmail.com with the subject title Nomination For. I will compile the pre-nominations and post them in the week leading up to the meeting.

If you have anything else you would like discussed/voted on at the meeting get in touch and I will put it on the agenda. If you don't you can still bring it up, just at the end of the meeting when everyone's getting antsy for the party. If you have general comments please make them below
