Great Bloody Mess

Tonight's match against Baby Chimi's saw us muck about a lot, with no discipline whatsover, at least from us old bastards who have been around long enough to know better. Vanessa became the reliable option, making the most reasonable cuts and also moving the disc on with confidence. Well done Vanessa! Her brother Chris must have been inspired, because he made some bustling cuts to the end zone, burning it up. He was also spotted warming down.. alone. What a man of commitment.

Starkey and Sean also threw some good ones, and some Carl to Laura sickening play :P saw us take the game 9-5.

  2. Yep, 10-6.
And I actually thought that it was one of our best games this season. Maybe not in what we talked about beforehand (ordering the cuts, playing with more structure), but as a team we seemed to turn up all in the frame of mind to run hard, and finish points, and as a result I think we ended up gelling as a team more than I've experienced this season so far.
We also had a great feeing of support from the sideline (lots of yelling out, cheering, and helping with positioning), which seemed to do wonders for the in-game intensity.

  4. To be honest, i think we had an easy game. I felt like I had room to be lazy and pull off glory points, which lead to me throwing to defenders a few times. Al and Fatty did not poach or dominate, as they could have. They encouraged their players to play their roles properly, and they could have annihilated our defense if they had wanted to.

The pleasing aspect of this win was the way that our newer players such as Vanessa and Laura S made a lot of play. Grant also showed amazing potential.

The reason I am critical is that I think we have more potential than we are using. I think it'd be great for us to compete at a higher level and get better, rather than laze around in Div 2. I also think that we should be challenging our newer players to become more involved. I'd like to see the Laura's having a handle and putting some hucks on.. they both have massive throws, and against man, no one would expect a girl to be making big throws.

  5. I definitely agree with all your points Danny :)
I was just really pumped after a night of the most fun I've had playing disc in at least 6 months.
But yeah, definitely agree with us having way more potential - and I'd LOVE to see some of those girls huck! Hells, most of them can (and do) huck it further than me, let's surprise some opposition with them! :D
