Sometimes Frisbee is not the winner

Last night in a not-so-hard-fought match of Frisbee vs the Weather Frisbee was absolutely pantsed going down faster than [EDIT: extremely inappropriate analogy removed here]. The weather had a full strength team of precipitation which was backed by a large array of boutique beers set to psych out anyone who tried to defend.

The Heroes club ventured all the way to Archive, in West End, which for some was a 100m stroll down the street, or for others it meant catching two buses, which in Brisbane takes 1 painfully long hour for what should be a 25 minute trip. Nonetheless most of us came prepared knowing that we would likely injure our sobriety muscle and would not be able to drive home. A few pickups even came along to play, including Lucy, Joel and Amy.

During the evening Heroes were forced to try out some new tactics, such as talking to each other about things other than Frisbee. For example I learnt that Adam Baker is married, and that Steph develops methods of hydrogen storage for work, whatever that actually means. Despite our enthusiasm not a single point of Frisbee was played, although Gavin did turn up at Annerley, after being too rushed to check his email.

In summary, beer was drank, fun was had by all. I think the final score was something like 11mm of rain and 100 beers to nil.

  1. Don't you people have to work on Tuesdays?

    Nice post by the way.

  2. Yeah I'm at work - I'd say 5 beers is less taxing on the body the next day than 2 games of frisbee.

  3. It was the darts that kept us out.

    That damn triple 5.

Work at 6:30 this morning would have been fine if I had a $100 archive food and beverage voucher in my back pocket.

  4. Although I was the last of our group standing at the bar (paying my tab), I would count Discheads to have 'won the party' due to their large numbers (6?) continuing on after almost all Heroes/Agents left post darts tournament. There were rumours/unconfirmed citings of 'Panties' sipping margharitas at Sling Lounge across the road.

  5. By the way - re the poll, why does nudity need to be hardcore? Can't we have old fashioned softcore?

  6. You can't really call it "winning the party" when half of them only rocked up at 10pm

  7. Just wondering, who from AO is planning on turning up tonight at 6.45ish for training, possibly with UQ div1?

On a related point, and directed more at Spaz, what are the chances of Discheads wanting/accepting a pick up for tonight?
    Possibly wearing a green/orange shirt...
(wouldn't blame you if you said no ;)

I haven't played disc for 2 weeks! Worst-timed bye ever!

  8. Spaz is attending Mr Olympia body building shows in the USA, so you'd have to ask someone else.
