I love the super hero theme that this BUML d2 league has, dont you? Well at least a few teams carry the 'superhero' thing, one of those the Ghost who walks
Heroes knew we would be likely to start slow with all the time off lately so we got a great in and away drill going. We did it well and it carried into the game. The purple "kit(ed) walkers" won the toss and chose to receive so we hucked it down there and put a strong manD on. LauraD injected herself straight into the game with the old run just behind tactic to get the sly block in. Unfortunately we took a while and a few possessions to score but we got it. The walkers quickly traded and got on the board with a good outside in forehand from Luke Allen-Ankins to the miss matched height between myself and Sean?(sorry cant remember names).
We traded points in what was turning into a very tight match. The GWW were staying in the game and used their height very effectively. I guess when you've got it, flaunt it right? I lost track at how many flick hucks came from Luke to one of their 7ft receivers. Heroes let them get out to a three point lead through some sloppy play on our behalf and capitalizing play by GWW. The score got to 8-5 the purples way.
Im not sure what happened but then it all clicked.
The green machine decided to play and show the form of previous weeks. LauraS saw chaddy open-ish (lets face it, he's always open even when there’s someone marking him) going long and decided to honour the long cut. A beautiful disc went up and with the right tilt to favour the receiver, we made the score. LauraS played superbly actually, assisting in about half of our scores I thought. Lastly BradDull has finally learnt how to run and read a disc!!! I thought he played fantasticly both on D and O and I can see him being quite dangerous in the finals series.
Heroes managed to pull out something like 4 points in a row and got the win out in the end to make it 9-7.
Special peeps out to Bev, Craig, and Seb for helping us out and picking up for us.
Hey Carl, nice win. But how can the score go from 5-8 to 9-7?
ReplyDeleteCarl's mid game scores are never accurate. Purples were only up 5-3 before Heroes started to reel them in and took the lead.
