In what was a round to remember the league saw a few wins that perhaps would not have been tipped to occur. Frisky Time beating M.Yellow by 1, Dyspnoeics over Discheds and the highly ranked Ghost walkers got up against Baby chimis. Wow what a round and more entertainingly Poachers and Heroes played out a draw 8 all. In what has become a modern day rivalry these teams have played each other 3 times.
1st was poachers win 13-11
2nd was Heroes win 10-5
and now the 3rd is a 8-8 draw
I guess the only problem is that we like to play the Poachers so its maybe not a fierce rivalry but all the same its a fun contest every time.
The old, "the game was deserving to be a draw" "both teams played as good as each other" stuff is boring, but in this instance very true!
Each side managed to pull off well constructed points when needed and created good flow. All the same it was Heroes who lost the match. Last possession was called on the Poachers pull and Heroes moved it up the field and Mikey caught the disc in the endzone, well sorta, when he jumped he was in the endzone and landed about a 1/2 foot out of bounds, which was so excruciating from my point of view. A win last night would have seen the Heroes stay in touch with outright 2nd but now it appears that GWW and Dyspnoeics will take that role.
Next week sees the un-beaten ExQUisiTe fresh from their bye, up against Heroes. This will be a good yard stick for us to see where we are at. We will be at our best if we are going to topple the league favourites.
